Lincoln’s iconic flagship sedan, the Continental, is set to make to comeback in 2016, 14 years since the premium brand discontinued the nameplate for the third time in its history. The news came as Lincoln unveiled the 2015 Continental Concept at the New York Auto Show, and yes, the revival is backed by an official statement and not just fueled by one of the numerous rumors we’ve came across recently. So let’s give a warm welcome back to the legendary Continental and wish it a long and prosper fourth stint among luxury limousines.
Yeah, I know the actual car is still a year away from showing its face in public, but we have the Continental Concept to look at until then. And I’m not trying to be ironic here. The Conti Concept looks as production-ready as they get, and I expect many of these exterior and interior features to arrive in dealerships with the actual car. Of course, many details around this luxury sedan are still unknown, and that’s exactly why I’ve put together the speculative review below. Updated 10/09/2015: A new report indicates that the 2017 Continental will be unveiled in January 2016 at the Detroit Auto Show. The model will be initially offered as in front-wheel-drive configuration, while all-wheel-drive will be offered as an alternative. Lincoln has no plans for a hybrid version anytime soon.
