Ford Ka

The Ford Ka arrived in 1996 as the first production vehicle to use Jack Telnack’s New Edge design. A small and low-cost addition to the Ford range, the Ka had a wheel-at-each-corner stance, and although it was received with mixed reactions due to its awkward styling, it was lauded for its sharp handling. A second-gen model followed in 2008 with revised styling and built on the same platform as the Fiat 500 and Lancia Ypsilon. In 2014, a redesigned Ka was introduced in South America, and Ford Europe began working on a Euro-spec model.

Set to replace the current model built by Fiat in Poland, the third-gen Ka is reportedly set to arrive in 2016, and these preliminary spy shots confirm the small hatch will come to Europe with different front and rear fascias than the South American model. As you might have already guessed, the Ka won’t be sold in the U.S., where the Fiesta will remain Ford’s smallest offering.

I expect the new Ka to make its public debut in the first quarter of 2016, likely at the Geneva Motor Show, before it goes on sale next summer. Keep reading for more details.
