In most parts of the world, the 2015 Lexus RC F might seem like an unusual pick for a police car, but in Dubai, it’s a relatively tame one. Over the last couple of years, the Dubai Police has been touting its ever-expanding fleet of exotic, high-performance cars wearing its signature green-and-white livery, and its latest addition is Lexus’ all-new, 467-horsepower coupe… not to mention a really cool two-door Toyota Land Cruiser.
These two vehicles join an extraordinary lineup of cop cars that include a Ferrari FF, Chevrolet Camaro SS, McLaren MP4-12C, Audi R8, Mercedes-Benz G-Class, Bentley Continental, a pair of Porsche Panamera sedans and even the Gibbs Quadski. These are just some of the vehicles that have been revealed on the police department’s social media feeds or in a promotional video, and that does not include the various helicopters and speed boats the department has at its disposal.
The RC F would actually make a pretty cool pursuit vehicle, but the sport bucket seats and small back seat might limit its usefulness for police officers. So rather than using them for crime prevention, the Dubai Police use these cars more for marketing purposes at demonstrations or as show vehicles. Still, knowing these cars are lurking somewhere in the city, it probably wouldn’t be a wise decision to attempt to flee the police if you’re ever visiting Dubai.
