Earlier in April of 2016 we found out that Aston Martin was planning to launch a race-focused version of the V8 Vantage. It will be offered as the GT8 and will follow in the footsteps of the GT12, a limited-edition, track-ready version of the V12 Vantage. The big news was revealed by Autocar, which claimed the the British company sent select customers invitations to an unveiling and a sketch of the car. Now, we have more proof that such a model is underway in the form of a fresh batch of spy shots showing the upcoming GT8 being put through its paces on the Nurburgring track.
Looking very similar to the V-12-powered GT12 model, the GT8 confirms that Aston Martin is set to launch significantly more track-ready vehicles in the future. Word has it that the GT8 will be one of two limited-edition cars to be unveiled in 2016, so there’s another exciting model to expect from the Brits by the end of the year. There’s no word as to when the GT8 will make its global debut, but an official launch should happen by the end of the second quarter. Aston Martin is still keeping all the details in the vault, but the rumor mill has provided us with plenty of information about this Porsche 911 GT3 fighter.
Keep reading to find out more about its drivetrain and production figures, and stay tuned for updates about its release and availability.
