With no fewer than five new models introduced throughout the calendar year, 2015 was definitely a tremendous year for McLaren Automotive. Not surprisingly, the Brits ended 2015 with another record year, delivering a total of 1,654 vehicles to customers across 30 markets. According to McLaren, demand has increased after the release of the new Sports Series range to the extent that it had to add a second shift at its production center, as well as create 250 new jobs.
"2015 was a year of rapid expansion for McLaren Automotive. When the company was set up in 2010, we set ourselves an ambition to launch one new car every year. In 2015, we launched five! This accelerated development has led to yet another record year, with unprecedented levels of demand for all of our cars, especially the new Sports Series, for which we are currently holding more than six months worth of orders," said Mike Flewitt, CEO of McLaren Automotive.
2015 was also McLaren’s sixth consecutive record year, meaning the brand has been growing ever since it began building mass-produced sports cars in 2010. This year’s achievement comes at no surprise, given that the Brits introduced five new products, including the P1 GTR, 675LT, and 570S. The latter, together with the 540C, its less powerful sibling, was the main reason behind the growth.
"The launch of the new Sports Series is a step-change for McLaren Automotive. It opens the company up to new markets, new customers and consequently, new sales volumes," added Flewitt.
2015 also marked the end of production of the road-going McLaren P1. The last of the limited run of 375 units was delivered to its customer in December.
