It’s been 44 years since Mercedes-Benz stopped making a convertible version of its largest coupe, and it looks as if the Germans are finally ready to offer a drop-top version of their range-topping two-door. And as is the case with most Mercedes-Benz products, the Mercedes-Benz S-Class Convertible will also received a high-performance version prepped by AMG.
The standard S-Class cabriolet was spotted testing back in February, confirming that the large drop-top will make its public debut by the end of 2015. Even though Mercedes has yet to confirm there will also be an AMG version, our trusty paparazzi have already spotted the AMG S63 Convertible in the wild, which means the performance model will arrive shortly after the S-Class Convertible breaks cover at the 2015 Frankfurt Motor Show.
Much like the standard prototype before it, the AMG is partly camouflaged, with most of the gray wrap covering the rear section. However, there’s is no doubt that this is indeed the Mercedes-AMG S63 Convertible, as all the visible features mirror those of the 2015 Mercedes-Benz S63 AMG Coupe.
Updated 08/11/2015: The guys over walkoART Videos caught the upcoming S63 AMG Convertible in its final development stages. The car is expected to be unveiled next month at the 2015 Frankfurt Motor Show.
