This Is A 2016 Chevrolet Camaro Body Side Die

Almost two months before the model is supposed to officially debut at the 2015 New York Auto Show, a part of the 2016 Chevrolet Camaro has surfaced online. To be fair, the part in question is not exactly from the upcoming Camaro but it is in fact a die used to shape the car’s side body panel with a press, but that is more than enough to give us an under-the-sheet look at the all-new model, or at least the shape of its rear fender, roofline and quarter window.

While the rear three-quarter panel looks almost identical to the one from the current generation, there are distinctions. For one thing, there is more real estate between the rear quarter window and the wide shoulder line, making for a sportier-looking greenhouse-to-side-panel ratio. As some of you know, the next-gen Camaro was already previewed as Bumblebee in "Transformers: Age of Extinction," and this body side die looks to be pretty much identical in shape to the one in the movie.

The man who posted the photo with the die in plain view is most likely a Chevrolet worker, since the Facebook image was accompanied by a comment suggesting that. Obviously, he may have gotten in trouble for posting it as the photo was subsequently deleted, but not before the folks at Camaro6 snatched it and made it public.
