With the 2015 Geneva Auto Show just around the corner, Suzuki is getting ready to debut two concepts cars, one of which is the iK-2. Unlike the iM-4, which previews a mini crossover that could compete against the Mini Countryman and Fiat 500X, the iK-2 is aimed at a crowded segment that is currently being led by the Volkswagen Polo and Ford Fiesta. That’s right, Suzuki wants to deliver a slightly larger and more premium alternative to the Swift, hoping to gain more market share in Europe and Asia (as you may already know, Suzuki is no longer operating in the U.S. as an automobile manufacturer as of 2012).
There aren’t many details to go by, as Suzuki was brief in its announcement and the teaser photo reveals only a shadowy profile of the iK-2, but that didn’t stop me from speculating on what we will see at the company’s stand in Geneva this March. There are hints Suzuki has created a somewhat new styling language, and I strongly believe the iK-2 Concept is actually a near production-ready version of Suzuki’s upcoming hatchback.
