Now that former Infiniti boss Johan de Nyscchen is in charge of Cadillac’s destiny in the upcoming years, a number of changes are already cut out for the luxury car brand, including a move of its headquarters to New York and a full revision of its model nomanclature. With crossover and SUV sales having increased exponentially in recent years, and with Cadillac more than willing to expand its lineup in order to properly compete in the premium segment globally, you can expect a number of Caddies with no direct predecessors to arrive in the near future.
Believe it or not, Cadillac may be thinking of developing a rival for models like the Audi Q3, BMW X1 and Mercedes-Benz GLA in just a few years. Since the carmaker has already filed for trademarks spanning from XT2 all the way to XT8 for its future SUV lineup, it’s reasonable tp speculate that it may borrow Audi’s type of nomenclature, with even numbers for regular crossover/SUVs and odd numbers for coupe-like crosovers. That said, the Cadillac rival for the aforementioned compact SUVs would probably sport the XT3 moniker.
