Originally introduced as rebadged Daewoo Lacetti, the Excelle received an extensive facelift in 2009, ditching the outdated appearance of its Korean ancestor. The GT sedan was launched a year later, preceding the U.S.-spec Verano that arrived for the 2012 model year. After five successful years and an outstanding 2014, during which it dominated China’s compact-sedan market, the Excelle received a complete makeover inside and out, and a pair of new four-cylinder engines.
The new Excelle has a sportier exterior with redesigned fascias, an updated interior with new technology, a couple of fuel efficient powertrains and, for the first time, a seven-speed, dual-clutch automatic transmission. Naturally, the Excelle remains a China-exclusive model, but I expect the new Excelle is our best look yet at the 2017 Verano. Keep reading for the full run-down.
