Lexus IS

Originally called the Toyota Altezza in Japan from 1998 through 2005, the IS name was introduced for the 2006 model year when the second generation car debuted. Despite the name change from Altezza to Lexus IS, the series of vehicles continued on as sporty, entry-level luxury vehicles. With the first generation going by the Altezza name, the IS has technically only seen two generations, with the most recent ushered in for the 2013 model year.

We’ve been expecting it for a little while now, but we’ve finally received confirmation via the teaser image you see here, along with word that it will debut at the 2016 Beijing International Automotive Exhibition in China. Of course, details are still scarce as of this moment, as Lexus doesn’t want to spill the beans until the car’s official debut.

The teaser does lend a hand to some speculation of what we can expect, plus Lexus has said that the “bold evolution of design with greatly enhanced visual impact will absolutely ignite people’s desire to put their hands on the steering wheel.” So, with that said, let’s take a look at the teaser image and discuss what we know, as well as what we might see next week when the refreshed IS line makes its debut.
