2016 Barrett-Jackson Palm Beach Auction – Recap

This past weekend, South Florida residents were treated to a huge number of four-wheeled knockouts as Barrett-Jackson held it’s 14th Palm Beach Collector Car Auction. Over 65,000 attendees filled the South Florida Fair Grounds to experience the three-day event, which took place between April 8th and 10th. By the end of Sunday, 399 automobiles exchanged hands, with total sales eclipsing $23 million, including over a million dollars raised for charity.

The frenetic energy of the auction floor was broadcast live on the Discovery Channel and Velocity Channel. Meanwhile, ticket holders were offered the chance to take a ride-along with a pro driver, as well as learn a little about car care at ancillary seminars.

But the big stories of the weekend were the muscle cars, sports cars, supercars, and customs going under the hammer, with the biggest draws being well-preserved American iron.

Sales this year were up compared to 2015, with first-time bidders making up 42 percent of those participating in the action. This year also saw a 96.3 percent sell-through rate.

Country music star Zac Brown made an appearance, as did NASCAR driver Kurt Busch. Actor William Shatner also showed up, bringing his 2002 Aston Martin DB7 and 2004 Volkswagen Phaeton along for the block.

Read on for a breakdown of the big lots.
