In 2010, Pagani took the Nurburgring track by stom with the then-new Zonda R, lapping the Nordschleife in 6:47.50 minutes. The benchmark made the Italian supercar the fastest non-road-legal vehicle to lay rubber at "Green Hell." It’s been more than five years since then and the record still stands, but word has it the Zonda R is no longer the fastest car around the German track. According to various reports, the record now belongs to the Pagani Zonda Revolucion.
The big news comes from avid car collector Kris Singh, who released an image on Instagram that shows the Revolucion wearing a decal that mentions the 6:30 lap time on a map of the Nurburgring track. The rumor comes only hours after the FIA announced it has green-lighted new safety measures at the Nordschleife, so that the German track could lift the speed limits enforced earlier this year following a fatal accident that occurred during a VLN Endurance Championship race. The speed limits, however, won’t be eliminated until 2016. With the limits still in place, it would have been virtually impossible for Pagani to set a new lap record.
So is this rumor fake or did the Italians manage to find a loop to tackle the ’Ring at full speed?
