With a couple of months until the Alfa Romeo 4C goes on sale in the U.S., thus marking the brand’s first return to North America with a mass-produced car since 1995, the Italian company confirmed more nameplates will cross the pond by 2017. Speaking to Auto News, Reid Bigland, head of the Alfa Romeo brand in North America, said Alfa’s new compact sedan, which will be revealed on June 24th, 2015, will go on sale in the U.S. in the first quarter of 2016. Rumored to be named Giulia, the four-door will compete against the likes of BMW 3 Series and Mercedes-Benz C-Class.
Bigland declined to discuss design details or performance figures, but said the sedan will feature impressive specs. "I’m confident that it’s going to blow your Italian socks off when you look at the specifications associated with this vehicle," Bigland noted, hinting the Giulia will also get a high-performance version aimed at the BMW M3 and Mercedes-AMG C63.
"With our base, our mid and our high, look for them to be a little bit of a notch above based on what they have in the market right now," he added.
The second new nameplate to come to the U.S. by the first quarter of 2017 is Alfa’s much-anticipated SUV. Very little is known about it, but word has it the SUV will share a new RWD platform with the sedan. The SUV would go against the BMW X3, Audi Q5, and Porsche Macan, according to Bigland.
