Pagani Huayra Roadster

Pagani debuted the Huayra in 2012 as the replacement for the aging Zonda, although the manufacturer continued rolling out special edition Zondas through 2014. The Huayra name may sound odd at first, but it is based on the God of the winds, Wayra Tata, from the era of the Incan empire. The Huayra coupe was limited to only 100 units and has sold out, but reports of a roadster version started circulating shortly after the coupe debuted. Now, a new report from TopGear, who spoke with Horatio Pagani himself, claims that a roadster version will be released in 2016.

In the conversation with Pagani, TopGear learned that the Huayra Roadster will be far more than just a hacked-up coupe. Instead, the supercar manufacturer will give it a healthy power increase, make it lighter than the coupe, and give the drop top its own chassis. The only issue is that the coupe version was already expensive enough, and the roadster is sure to blow that out of the water. Will the Huayra Roadster be awesome enough to warrant its massive price tag?

Update 3/5/2014: In an interview with TopGear Horatio Pagani admitted that the Huayra Roadster will debut in 2016 and will feature a power bump over the coupe version.
