Ah, the EAU Police Force. Probably the only public institution that rivals Jay Leno for buying luxury, high-performance and limited-edition cars. You’re probably familiar with the fact that the Dubai Police added vehicles such as a Lamborghini Aventador, Ferrari FF, Aston Martin One-77, (one of 77 built!) Nissan GT-R and a Bugatti Veyron to its fleet, and yes, you guessed it, I’m here to tell you about yet another ludicrous purchase the EAU made for the sake of law and order. This time around, the Abu Dhabi Police bought a Rolls Royce Phantom, which as always, was showcased during a public event. You know, just to let felons know there’s a new paddy wagon in town.
The massive limousine was unveiled at Yas Mall on Sunday to mark the opening of GCC Traffic Week in Abu Dhabi. The campaign aims to increase traffic-hazard awareness among motorists, and to encourage drivers to cooperate with the traffic police to reduce accidents and make the roads safer. Unlike Dubai’s police vehicles, which sport a white-and-green livery, the Phantom received Burgundy Red body panels. Naturally, the paint scheme matches that of the Nissan GT-R, Chevy Camaro SS, and Ford F-150 Raptor the local police use to patrol around town.
