2015 Chevrolet Corvette Z06 Goes into Production

Chevrolet has apparently foregone the confetti poppers and noisemakers as the first production-ready Corvette Stingray Z06 quietly rolled off the Boling Green assembly line Monday morning, November 10th, at 9:26 AM Central time. Even the usual press release and twitter blast was absent. In fact, it was through an apparent stroke of luck that a moderator from StingrayForums.com by the name of “elegant” was on a public factory tour and saw the low-key celebration take place.

Rolling off the line was a black on black Z06 coupe, VIN 001, which belongs to Rick Hendricks. The NASCAR team owner won the rights to the first production Z06 back in April at the Barrett-Jackson auction. Gathered around was top brass from the assembly plant and GM.

The forum moderator turned Corvette spy also spotted other Z06 Vettes in “a rainbow of colors” further down the assembly line. “In fact, can not think of a color of Z06 that I did not see,” he continues on his forum post.

Production of the Z06 is well under way and "elegant" estimates that roughly seven of the super-Vettes are rolling off the line every hour. Like other assembly plants that intermingle vehicle models, the Z06 is built mixed in with standard Corvette Stingrays.

Considering the Z06 is now in production, customers who pre-ordered theirs should be receiving their order before the end of the year.
