Lamborghini Asterion Won't Make It To Production

Lamborghini dropped the hammer at the 2014 Paris Motor Show when it unveiled the Asterion LPI 910-4 Concept; Lambo’s answer to the growing hybrid supercar arms race. But would the Italian company actually build it? Unfortunately, the answer is no. That’s what Lamborghini CEO Stephan Winkelmann told Maxim recently and if there’s one person who we have to believe in this case, it’s the guy calling the shots for Lamborghini.

Winkelmann doesn’t believe in using hybrid technology on a Lamborghini, so the Asterion will remain nothing more than a concept vehicle, much to our chagrin.

But just because the Asterion itself isn’t headed to production anytime soon, it doesn’t mean Lamborghini’s wasting any of the elements it used to build it. Winkelmann even suggested that we could see some of the technology used on the Asterion on future Lambo production models, namely the Urus SUV.

He’s also not closing the door on the Asterion being developed as a one-off production model, you can buy anything if you have enough money, after all, just don’t expect it to be a hybrid. As Winkelmann said, hybrid technology is something that “Lamborghini is not all about”.
