The BMW i8 is easily the flashiest model the German automaker has in its lineup. Aftermarket companies rarely give it any attention though. A big part of that is the i8’s hybrid engine, which is admittedly more complicated to custom tune than the typical gas-powered variant. Then there’s German Special Customs, which saw a way to develop an aftermarket kit for the i8 without having to worry about making any engine modifications.
The German-based aftermarket company decided to offer a tuning program that plays to the strengths of the i8 by improving the hybrid sports car’s aesthetic and aerodynamic attributes. That’s how the i8 “iTRON” was born.
It’s a flashy name, but an appropriate one considering the incredible improvements to make the i8 look sportier and more dramatic than its standard appearance.
Don’t get me wrong. I love the design of the BMW i8, but if German Special Customs can make it look like this, there’s no way I’m going back to its normal design.
Give a lot of credit to GSC for creating a tuning kit that adds more flash to the already flamboyant hybrid sports car.
