Mercedes-AMG GT Roadster

The 2016 Mercedes-AMG GT is now completely void of its hideous, green camo and all its stats are public knowledge, as Mercedes officially debuted the two-door coupe on September 9, 2014. But what about the Roadster version, you ask? Well here is our idea of what a drop-top GT would look like.

Mercedes has been pretty hush-hush about building a Roadster version of its AMG GT and we haven’t seen a test mule making its rounds, so figure on at least another year before anything happens.

Whether or not Mercedes intends on building the roadster is really the question to ask. Some say Mercedes will skip on building an AMG GT Roadster in order to protect its slow-selling SL-Class Roadster. On the other hand, the German automaker could stand to make some big money on a drop-top version of its newest offering. Plus, Mercedes has some good competition coming from Porsche and Audi.

If Mercedes-AMG does build the AMG GT Roadster, count on the same greasy bits to be under the bodywork, including the twin-turbocharged, 4.0-liter V-8. Like the coupe version, the roadster would likely share the two distinct outputs, allowing for model separation and an extra level of prestige for top-tier buyers.
