Kawasaki Ninja H2

hr2photo1

After many teasers the house of Akashi has finally released a comprehensive list of pictures and videos of its all new H2R, which is basically the racing version of the upcoming H2.

The new motorcycle looks like something never seen before and sets new standards in its class in terms of style, technology and performance.

Packed with a tubular trellis steel chassis, a single sided swingarm and an innovative 998 cc, in-line four cylinder, DOHC supercharged engine which is rumored to put out up to 300 hp, the all new Kawasaki Ninja H2R has all it needs to impress even the most demanding motorcycle enthusiasts. The scroll-type supercharger was designed completely in-house and represents the start of a new era of motorcycle racing.

Moreover, the entire body was designed by Kawasaki’s Aerospace Company and is made of carbon fiber, as well as the dual intake air duct and the back of the engine. Each part of the body was designed with aerodynamics in mind and a closer look will reveal many resemblances with Jet fighters.

As far as wheels are concerned, the new Ninja H2R sits on 120/600R17 front and 190/650R17 rear rims wrapped in Bridgestone V01 tyres.

We still don’t have the full technical details of the motorcycle but we do know that the new bike features an ABS on the front wheel with Brembo radial-mount calipers.

Nevertheless the new Ninja H2R looks stunning and promises to be an impressive race bike.

Ferrari "La Famiglia" Collection by Wheelsandmore

It’s been a while since we last heard from Wheelsandmore. Actually, it’s been too long. But the German tuner knows how to make a comeback. Each and every time Wheelsandmore builds a program, you can count on it being comprehensive. The only thing different about this program is that it’s not limited to just one unit, but three; three Ferraris, to be exact.

The Ferrari F12berlinetta, the Ferrari FF, and the Ferrari California are all part of the tuner’s new "La Famiglia" program and all received the same tender, love, and care from Wheelsandmore, the kind that we’ve all come to know from the German company. Each Ferrari received a new set of wheels, obviously, and modest performance gains.

A handful of cosmetic upgrades were also given to the three Ferraris, although you’d be hard-pressed to notice them outside of the traditional Wheelsandmore decal that runs along the length of each Ferrari.

Take a good, long look at these new Ferrari programs from Wheelsandmore. All three share the undeniable character and flair of the German aftermarket company, right down to the gnarly set of wheels and those subtle performance improvements.

Welcome back, Wheelsandmore. We missed you.

Nissan Altima - Driven

Mark McNabb spent time with the 2014 Nissan Altima. See what he thought of it.

The Altima is a hot item for Nissan, giving it competition in the midsize rink with The Camry and Accord for best-selling bragging rights. The stakes are high in this sedan segment, with average sales figures topping 350,000 units a year. None of the three automakers can afford a mistake here.

Nissan upped the ante for 2013 with its fifth generation Altima, a sedan that took on a more sculpted look, a refined interior, and two engine options that cater to those wanting good fuel mileage or sportier performance.

I recently spent a week behind the wheel of the 2014 Altima. My tester came equipped with the 2.5-liter, four-cylinder engine and the top-line SL trim package. It was loaded with nearly every feature available, including Navigation, blind spot and lane-departure warnings, Moving Object Detection, a moonroof, power everything, and a nine-speaker Bose sound system, among other things.

The Altima proved to be a competent daily driver with enough pep to maneuver through traffic while providing a comfortable ride and a no-nonsense demeanor. Its updated looks earned a few fans from my family members while its less-than-stellar steering earns a few gripes from my inner enthusiast.

Porsche Cayenne S E-Hybrid

Porsche announced plans to introduce a hybrid version of the Cayenne in 2005, three years after it had launched its sports SUV. A functioning vehicle was shown at the 2007 Frankfurt Motor Show, with the production version, dubbed S Hybrid, arriving three years later. Brought to the United States in late 2010, the S Hybrid was motivated by a supercharged, 3.0-liter, V-6, gasoline engine and an electric motor that cranked out a total of 380 horsepower and 428 pound-feet of torque. As the second-gen Cayenne received its facelift for the 2015 model year, the Germans announced the launch of the S E-Hybrid, a plug-in model set to replace the S Hybrid.

More powerful, fuel-efficient, and eco-friendly when compared to its predecessor, the S E-Hybrid is also the first plug-in hybrid in the premium-SUV segment. What’s more, the revised hybrid also enables Porsche to become the first manufacturer to sell three production plug-in hybrids. The Cayenne joins the plug-in version of the Panamera sports sedan and the 918 Spyder supercar.

The Cayenne S E-Hybrid makes its official debut at the 2014 Paris Motor Show.

Video: 2015 Chevrolet Corvette Z06 Hits the Nurburgring

You might be tempted to think that the 2015 Corvette Z06 is ready to hit the streets now that its configurator is online, but you’d be wrong. Refining a super-fast vehicle that’s based on a true-blue race car is a long and difficult task, and it seems Chevy is spending a lot of time doing that. With just a few months left until the first Z06s start rolling off the assembly line, GM’s halo sports car is being put through its paces on the Nurburgring track, the place where all high-performance vehicles go to hone their skills.

Thanks to YouTube’s BridgeToGantry, whose daily routine is to keep an eye on the "Green Hell" for any interesting car that may arrive to run a few hot laps, we’re able to watch the 2015 Corvette Z06 doing what it knows best. That’s taking fast turns and running fast straights on one of the world’s most challenging race courses. Naturally, the Z06 is by no means intimidated by the Nurburgring’s difficult configuration and has no trouble in tackling the track’s tight bends at high speed. The footage also provides us with yet another opportunity to hear the Vette’s enticing V-8 engine roar through its four-pipe exhaust.

There’s only one thing wrong with this video. It’s too damn short. Just hit the play button and you’ll understand why we need more than 53 seconds of Z06 footage.

BMW M6 Convertible "Stormtrooper" by Vilner

We’ve always known Vilner to be an off-key tuner that specializes in dressing up interiors. Apparently, it’s also a fan of Star Wars, which may or not be surprising depending on your allegiance to the movie franchise. The Bulgarian tuner is such a fan that it decided to get an early start on Episode 7 promotions by giving the BMW M6 Convertible a Stormtrooper treatment.

Before Star Wars junkies get too excited, the program is actually a one-off, build specifically for one customer who offered his last-generation M6 to receive the aftermarket program. In other words, it’s a unique project that will be sold on a limited number. No more than 10 cars, according to Vilner.

The BMW Stormtrooper is actually the second project Vilner has made of this dramatic scale. Remember last year, when the company introduced the Bullshark? Seems like a long time ago, right?

Vilner followed that up with the Stormtrooper, a convertible version of the Bullshark that might have the same design idea, but has dramatically different applications.

The result is nothing short of eye-catching, and that may even be putting it lightly.

Spy Shots: Honda Civic Type R Testing Near Nurburgring

The Civic Type R prototype caught near the Nurburgring and it is nearly identical to the Type R Concept II

There’s nothing wrong with an automaker showcasing two different concepts before rolling out a production car, which is why I’m not at all surprised Honda is bringing the Type R Concept II to the Paris Motor Show before unveiling its next high-performance Civic hatch. However, I suspect the Concept II is as production-ready as it gets, and the latest batch of spy shots that arrived in our inbox come to confirm just that. While we’re all busy gazing at the striking Concept II and its flashy paint job, Honda is testing the real deal close to the Nurburgring. And guess what? The production Type R appears to be identical to the Concept II that’s slated to debut on October 2nd, 2014.

In an almost hilarious attempt to hide what we already know, the test car is wrapped in black-and-white camouflage, and there’s no actual sheet metal for us to look at, but certain details reveal the Concept II will hit the production line with very few changes. That’s far from shocking, as Honda is known for displaying near-production cars while calling them concepts.

Video: Autoguide Checks out the 2015 Ford Mustang

Muscle cars don’t get much better than the Ford Mustang. That’s a popular sentiment these days with proper respects given to the Chevrolet Camaro and the Dodge Challenger, two muscle cars that have their own separate fan bases. But the Ford Mustang is the Ford Mustang for a reason. It’s arguably one of the most iconic models in America.

The 2015 Ford Mustang is the latest-generation model that takes the muscle car’s design and performance to new levels. Recently, Autoguide managed to get its hands on a 2015 Mustang and put it through a comprehensive testing session that covers everything and anything you need to know about the new Pony Car.

There have been a lot of these video reviews of the Mustang, so some of what you watch here has been explained ad nauseam. But there’s something to be said to learning things about the Mustang you probably wouldn’t have known without watching this video.

Besides, it’s only around eight minutes long.

The base 2015 Ford Mustang is powered by a 3.7-liter, V-6 engine that produces 300 horsepower and 280 pound-feet of torque. This version can sprint from 0 to 60 mph in just 6.5 seconds to go with a top speed of about 155 mph.

Meanwhile, the top-of-the-line Mustang comes with a more powerful 5.0-liter, V-8 engine that churns out an impressive 435 horsepower and 400 pound-feet of torque. Thanks to the extra power, it can spring from 0 to 60 mph in about five seconds to go with a top speed of close to 180 mph without the speed limiter.

Jim Glickenhaus Buys the Ferrari Modulo Concept by Pininfarina

I’m not old enough to really remember the Ferrari Modulo, but I do know some uncles of mine who attest to having knock-off posters of the concept stapled to their walls. The car was a revolutionary wonder back in its day, a space ship-looking oddity that Pininfarina actually designed and developed, and was based on the Ferrari 512S.

These days, the Modulo Concept can be found locked and hidden deep inside Pininfarina’s vault. Or at least it was until Jim Glickenhaus somehow convinced the Italian design house to sell it to him.

Road & Track is reporting as such and there’s no reason to raise an eyebrow on this report. Glickenhaus himself reached out to Road & Track to announce his latest automotive purchase. As if the man doesn’t have enough unique Ferraris to call his own; he’s adding another one to this stable that might win out as the strangest of them all.

Apparently, Glickenhaus isn’t just buying the Modulo; he also plans to rebuild it and unleash it to the world. R&T is reporting that the entire build process will take place in Europe before the car makes the voyage back to New York where it will be registered and, well, you know what’s going to happen after that.

Glickenhaus didn’t give an exact timetable on how long the restoration is going to take, but he did say that the Modulo could be prepared and finished in time for the 2015 Concorss d’Eleganza Villa d’Este on May 22, 2015.

Video: Porsche 918 Spyder Burns Down In Toronto

Supercars are always up for a riot on the roads with spinning tires, loud exhausts, and speeds in excess of insanity. Supercars are apparently also up for a good roasting, with tires melting off their rims, glass shattering, and Alcantara interior bits leaving the cockpit in a puff of smoke.

Porsche’s newest supercar, the $845,000 918 Spyder with its hybrid powertrain, hadn’t felt the burn until now. Cell phone video (from Dave and his lovely girlfriend) captures the inferno mid-event as the Porsche sits idly by at a gas station with flames engulfing its left-rear quarter.

While most supercars like to spontaneously combust on their own, this 918 is perhaps a victim of a refueling mishap. Maybe the owner forgot to extinguish his Cuban cigar before pressing that 93-octane button at the Ontario-based gas station. Or perhaps it was a jolt of static electricity built up from exiting the car. Either way, there is one less Porsche 918 in the world, and for that we grieve.

Pro Tip: Before filling up with gas, discharge yourself of any static electricity by touching a few bare metal items not near the fuel nozzle or gas pump, lest you become the topic of the next car-on-fire story. This is especially important as the weather turns cold.

Spy Shots: Next-Generation Chevrolet Camaro Hits the Track

The next-generation Chevrolet Camaro has made yet another public appearance, shortly after being spotted outside Germany’s Nurburgring track. This time around, GM’s upcoming pony ditched the public road and took on the Nordschleife course for a proper, high-speed testing session and some hot laps. Fortunately, our trusty spy photographers were right on the spot to capture some snapshots with the Camaro in action.

As you might have already guessed, we are looking at the same prototype we saw earlier this week. The camouflage remains unchanged, so there are no new details for us to take in, but the Camaro’s presence on the Nurburgring says a lot about the pony’s development. For one, with the engineers now down to tuning the vehicle’s steering and suspension, among others, it’s likely the exterior design is almost production ready. What you see is what you’ll get. Sure, there’s nothing much to see behind that swirly wrap, but a few styling cues, such as the narrow grille and headlamps, a more sculpted waistline, and the new rear spoiler are obvious.

Secondly, Chevy is elbows deep in making the sixth-generation Camaro the most track-capable version of the nameplate, which isn’t surprising considering the advancements Ford has made with the 2015 Mustang. The 2016 Camaro needs to be in outstanding shape if GM wants to deliver a proper competitor for the sixth-gen ’Stang, and the team behind the project is doing just that. Whether it will succeed or not, we’ll find out sometime in 2015.

Volkswagen Passat GTE

It took the Volkswagen Passat about 40 years to become the vehicle we all know today. It all started when the Germans introduced the Dasher in the U.S. in 1974. Although named differently and equipped with some additional safety and emission-reducing features, the Dasher was the same as the Euro-spec Passat. The name was changed to Quantum in 1982, eight years before the Passat nameplate finally arrive in North America. 2014 brought the eighth-generation Passat in Europe, a vehicle that rides on the company’s new MQB platform and boasts a redesigned exterior and interior. Set to find its way Stateside in 2016, the new Passat also marks the introduction of a hybrid model, the first for the popular moniker.

Dubbed Passat GTE, the plug-in hybrid borrows the same powertrain launched with the Golf GTE, although output has been increased to cope with the increased curb weight of a midsize sedan and wagon. The bad news is the U.S. isn’t getting the GTE anytime soon, but the launch that’s set to take place at the 2014 Paris Motor Show is a good preview of what we’ll be getting in a few years.

Video: BMW i8 Vs. 2015 Corvette Stingray

You find yourself holding the keys to two of the most-anticipated sports cars of 2014, and you just happen to be at one end of a long, straight and abandoned piece of asphalt. What are you going to do? Hint: the correct answer is “have a drag race.” In this new video from the The Fast Lane Car, they have the new 2014 Chevrolet Stingray Convertible and the BMW i8 down at the local track, and they are doing some straight-line speed runs.

We get to see a total of three runs, and the results are much closer than we expected. One thing to note, and the TFLCar team is quick to point it out, they film in Boulder Colorado. That means that elevation is a major factor in the performance of naturally aspirated, internal-combustion engines. Electric motors don’t suffer from any sort of power drop at higher altitudes.

The video is a little long at five minutes, but they make sure to give you some good details on the cars themselves, and you get to hear a good bit of exhaust noise. If you want skip all the pre-party stuff and just want to jump straight into the drag racing, skip over to the two-minute mark and enjoy.

A statement was posted to Lotus Forums, and Jalopnik says that the CEO of Lotus North America, Arnie Johnson confirmed it to be true. "We would like to comment upon the rumours that are circulating on social media and online, Lotus is committed to the North American market and will indeed produce a 2016 Model Year Evora that will be fully U.S. compliant. We will not be producing a 2015 model year Evora, therefore, there will be limited availability of 2014 model year cars over the next few months."

So there you have it, the Evora will be returning, just not next year. Considering Lotus wasn’t going to revise the current car to use the “smart airbags” that would make it U.S. legal again, it is likely that the new Evora will be a highly revised model, if not a new-generation car.

As always, keep your eyes here on TopSpeed.com and we will be sure to pass on all the new as soon as we get it.

Mahindra could buy Peugeot's scooter division

Peugeot’s scooter division has never managed to raise at the expectations of the French manufacturer as far as sales are concerned. Therefore, under the command of Carlose Tavares which is the new CEO brought in from Renault, the company has took the drastic decision to sell it. It is true that last year, the company saw an 8,2% increase in scooter sales but this wasn’t enough to make them change their mind.

The truth is that in the latest years, the company dealt with a pretty harsh financial situation and their new decision comes as no surprise for us.

For the moment, we don’t have any official confirmation, about this transaction but rumors have it that the company’s scooter division will be bought by Mahindra & Mahindra as hinted by the “Le Parisien” newspaper.

On the other hand, Mahindra is getting bigger and bigger and this acquisition could be another major game changer for the Indian company which is already starting to be seen as a serious player in the automotive industry.

Stay tuned for more details.

Subaru Impreza

Launched in 1992, the Impreza quickly became one of Subaru’s most iconic vehicle, mostly due to its successful early campaigns in the World Rally Championship. Kept in production for eight years until 2000, the first-generation Impreza was sold with a bevy of flat-four engines displacing from 1.5 to 2.5 liters and in three body styles, four-door coupe, sedan, and five-door hatchback. The second-gen model, also known as the "bugeye era" Impreza was built between 2000 and 2007, and it was the first to lack a coupe version. The third-generation model followed in 2007, with a refresh to occur for the 2012 model year. For the fourth-gen model, Subaru discontinued the 2.5-liter engine, leaving the Impreza with only a 2.0-liter four-banger mated to either a five-speed manual or a CVT. For the 2015 model year, Subaru prepared a refreshed front fascia, updated convenience features and minor drivetrain tweaks for improved fuel economy.

Unlike its predecessor, the revised Impreza moves closer to the larger Legacy in terms of styling. Updates also add technology improvements across the lineup, which each trim gaining new standard equipment. Read on for the full details.

Video: This is the New GoPro Hero 4; it's Epic

I absolutely love my GoPro cameras. I have a Hero 3 and a Hero 3+, and they have made all the cool videos you have seen me make for the site possible. That Pike’s Peak run in the Miata race car, every single in-car review and even that Lego time-lapse were all created using this incredible and versatile camera. Today, GoPro just announced that there is an all-new model coming, and it is better than ever before.

Meet the GoPro Hero 4.

It takes the powerful GoPro Hero3+ and doubles its imaging power. It will now do 4K video at a full 30 FPS, it can take 1080p video at up to 120 frames per second for silky smooth slow-motion video and it has all-new photo modes to it as well. The GoPro 3+ was already the most capable camera I had ever used. Now it has only gotten better. Some new features include Bluetooth control for remotes and cell phones, a new dedicated settings button, and the Hero 4 now has an LCD screen built in (Silver models)!

Like every new camera, GoPro sent out a collection of these new imaging toys around the world to get some incredible footage. You can see the results for yourself above. The whole movie was also shot in 4K, so if you have a 4K monitor, this is a great chance to give it a solid workout.

If you want a more in-depth look of what has changed for the new Hero 4, you can check out a tutorial video from GoPro highlighting some of the more technical changes and additions to the camera.

Spy Shots: 2016 Lexus GS F Caught Testing

Lexus thinks it can hide it under swirly camo, but we know the GS F hides under that crazy wrap.

Although Lexus has yet to confirm plans to offer a high-performance version of the GS sedan, it appears the Japanese luxury automaker is indeed working on a competitor for the BMW M5 and the Mercedes-Benz E63 AMG. And this time we’re not quoting another rumor that surfaced the Interwebz, but relying on a batch of photos we just received from our trusty paparazzi. Yes, folks, the Lexus GS F is alive and rolling on tarmac, although for the time being only in the form of a prototype.

The vehicle you see above was just spotted roaming the streets, and the body panels hidden behind the camouflage suggest we’re looking at a beefed-up version of the GS. The sports sedan is set to arrive for the 2016 model year, when it will join the brand-new RC F in Lexus’ quest to take on BMW’s popular high-performance sedans.

Spy Shots: Next-Generation Chevrolet Camaro Drops Camo

The 2016 Camaro does a little tease as it drops some camo and shows its curves.

Chevrolet is getting bolder in testing its upcoming sixth-generation Camaro in public. The camo-covered car was just spotted outside the Nürburgring sporting five-spoke wheels, quad exhaust pipes, a rear wing, and what looks like heat extractors on its hood. While official details are still scarce, these spy shots afford us the best look so far.

The car as a whole looks smaller than the current Camaro. Its doors and rear deck lid appear to be shorter than before. Its roof looks lower as well — a fact that weekend track warriors might cringe at when thinking about dawning a helmet. Thankfully the pictures seem to depict a lowered driving position, likely alleviating any ergonomics issues. The car also looks more rounded. Check out the more curvy secondary side window and rear end.

There is some debate as to what performance level this Camaro falls into. Its quad exhaust and extra vents might suggest a ZL1, but its skinny tires and smaller brake discs suggest this will be the standard SS. Chevy will likely use a detuned version of the Corvette’s 6.2-liter, LT1 V-8. That engine is known for its breathing abilities, so the larger exhaust makes sense. The hood vents are likely a direct application of techniques learned from Corvette, with heat extraction and downforce being the two key advantages.

Honda Civic Type R Concept II

Honda gave us a taste of the Civic Type R Concept at the 2014 Geneva Motor Show. Not content on dropping just one concept, the Japanese automaker is following that up with the unveiling of the Civic Type R Concept II at the 2014 Paris Motor Show on October 2.

There doesn’t appear to be a lot of changes to the exterior of the second concept other than the colors changing and the addition of body graphics. Otherwise, the two concepts look relatively similar.

But there are plenty of changes to talk about. New technology in the Civic Type R Concept II is the real highlight of this new concept, none more than the newly developed "+R" system that instantaneously turns the Civic Type R Concept II into a veritable pocket rocket at the push of the "+R" button.
