Audi S8 Talladega R by MTM

In the midst of all the anniversaries and celebrations automakers have lined up for this year, it’s easy to forget that one model is actually celebrating an anniversary of its own in 2016. Audi has yet to make a big fuss about it, so let me do the honors. The Audi S8 is turning 20 years old this year. Yes, it was first introduced in 1996 as Audi’s answer to the growing popularity of performance-oriented luxury models in the late 1990s. Since then, the S8 has held that mantle proudly and to commemorate it being a year away from legal drinking age, German tuner MTM is bringing an updated version of its Talladega program for the S8 at the 2016 Geneva Motor Show.

The car is officially called the S8 Talladega R, which is pretty much a souped-up version of the Talladega S that the aftermarket company introduced exactly a year ago at the 2015 staging of the biggest auto show in the world. Whether MTM intended the Talladega R to be a celebratory program is unclear, but what I do know is that it’s faster and more powerful than last year’s version. It’s also a little more provocative to look at, thanks in part to that camouflage wrap that MTM thought would look good on the S8.

Overall, it’s not the nicest S8 to look at, but where it felt a little overboard in one aspect, it more than made up for in another. With that kind of power, I don’t think the S8 Talladega R is the kind of car you’d want to see in your rearview mirror.

Mercedes-AMG C 43 4Matic Cabriolet

Just last week it was announced that Mercedes-AMG was going to debut its new C43 4Matic Coupe at the Geneva Auto Show in March. Now, just a day before its official debut, Mercedes has announced the Mercedes-AMG C43 4Matic Cabriolet. Like the Coupe, the Cabriolet comes with a fairly powerful V-6 engine, AMG performance 4Matic all-wheel drive, and a 9G-Tronic automatic transmission. Of course, the Cabriolet comes with one feature the coupe doesn’t – a retractable top.

We were expecting to see a C43 Cabriolet soon, but we didn’t expect it to debut at the same time as the coupe version. Tobias Moers, the Chief Executive of Mercedes-AMG, said, “The AMG product portfolio will continue to grow rapidly this year, making the world of Driving Performance more diverse than ever. Our new product line continues to expand at a fast pace and, with the C 43 4Matic Cabriolet, we are offering a younger target group yet another alternative to discover the fascinating world of AMG.”

So, we know there is eventually more coming to the product line, but before that happens, let’s take a closer look at the new C43 drop top. Surely it’s bound to pose some good competition for those wanting to obtain a performance-oriented convertible.

F1's New Qualifying Won't Debut Until Spanish Grand Prix

Those who are hoping for a more exciting Formula One season in 2016 are in for some good news and bad news. The good news is that the sport’s new elimination qualifying format will likely take effect this season. The bad news is that with the season-opening race in Melbourne scheduled for March 2016, there won’t be enough time to have the system in place for the season’s start. Take that for what it’s worth.

In a conversation with The Independent, F1 chief Bernie Ecclestone indicated that changes to the qualifying format will “probably” take effect during the Spanish Grand Prix, the fifth race in the calendar season. Timing is the root cause of the issue, specifically the time the FOM needs to ready the new timing software. Turns out, changing from one system to another is a far more complicated process than most people think. The biggest impediment at this point is the actual changing of the software that handles the timing systems. Software coding takes time, and even when they’re are done, there’s also that issue of testing and debugging the software.

The 2016 season season effectively starts in less than three weeks, so even if the FOM has all hands on deck to rewrite the entire system and work out all of its kinks, there’s simply not enough time before the Australian Grand Prix takes place.

It’s a bit of a complication, especially for all the parties involved. But if it makes for a better season altogether, the inconvenience should be worth the momentary hassle it’s causing.

Ford Fiesta ST200

Just last month at the launch of the new Ford Focus RS, CarAdvice reported that Ford Performance’s Chief Engineer, Tyrone Johnson, said that a Ford Fiesta RS was definitely not in any of Ford’s plans for the future. It was quite a bummer to hear, but that was before we heard about the vehicle you see here – the Ford Fiesta ST200. That’s right, Ford didn’t make an RS variant of the Fiesta, but it did come out with a high-performance model of the little hot hatch.

The Fiesta ST hit the market in 2013 with a power output of 179 horsepower and 177 pound-feet of torque from its 1.6-liter EcoBoost four-cylinder. The ST200 that is set to debut in Geneva is said to produce 10 percent more power and 20 percent more torque than the Fiesta ST. However, that isn’t all that comes with the ST200. It also comes with an exciting list of features not available on other Fiesta models.

Raj Nair, Ford’s Executive Vice President and Chief Technical Officer, said, “Whether it’s the new Fiesta ST200, or our game-changing all-new Focus RS, or the groundbreaking Ford GT supercar, our Ford Performance offering has never been so strong. Ford’s EcoBoost engine technology has enabled a Ford Performance model to suit every budget and lifestyle.” And Joe Bakaj, Ford Europe’s VP of product development, even said he thinks the new Fiesta ST200 is a “classic in the making.”

So will the ST200 live up to the hype that comes with this preview leading up to its debut at the Geneva Auto Show? Well, we won’t know until deliveries start in the summer, but we can take a closer look at it to see what sets it apart from the Fiesta ST.

Audi RS3 R by MTM

Remember when MTM released a multi-stage tuning kit for the Audi RS3 back in November 2015? Well, the German tuner’s back at it again with a new and improved program that adds more power to the hot hatch’s 2.5-liter turbocharged five-cylinder engine.

As if its past works on the RS3 weren’t impressive enough, this new kit promises more power and performance for the model. Kind of appropriate that we get this program not only in time for the 2016 Geneva Motor Show, but also in a climate where the high-performance hatchback segment has become as competitive as ever.

Having said that, this kit isn’t entirely new. Some of its elements were brought over from the previous program. The only difference is that this version is bigger, better, and as fans of the RS3 will surely love, more powerful than anything MTM has built for the hot hatch model.

The only downside to the kit is that it costs a lot of money. Some might be able to afford it, but with a price tag that breaks six figures, others might just opt for something in that price range. Either way, MTM isn’t sweating about this perceived complication. In it’s own mind, it has a new program for the RS3 that’s going to turn the pocket rocket into a bonafide sports car with the numbers to match its new status.

Does MTM’s new kit for the RS3 enough to persuade customers to give it a serious look? Fortunately, we won’t have to wait too long for an answer to that question. The Audi RS3 by MTM will make its debut in Geneva before the German tuner opens up shop to take orders and/or inquiries about it.

Acura NSX Type R

Despite the new 2016 Acura NSX having been somewhat outshined by the 2017 Ford GT at the 2015 edition of the North American International Auto Show, the model’s sleeves are still filled with a few more aces. The most important one will obviously be the expected Type R variant, which was somewhat officially confirmed by Ted Klaus, the chief engineer in charge of the second-generation Acura NSX. Set to arrive in late 2016 or early 2017 at the latest, the new Acura NSX Type R will probably give nightmares to the engineers in charge of the Nissan GT-R R36, which is also currently in development and should actually arrive before the NSX Type R.

The "regular" 2016 NSX puts out a total of 573 horsepower and 623 pound-feet of torque. 500 ponies and 406 pound-feet come from the mid-mounted V-6 mill, while the electric motor between the engine and transmission puts out an additional 47 horsepower adn 109 pound-feet of torque. Two motors on the front axle each deliver 36 horsepower and 54 pound-feet. With the additional power that would come with the additional of a Type R badge, the Type R should be one hell of a ride.

The 1991 to 2005 NSX spawned a Type R version about two years into the product-cycle, first as a Japan-only Honda and then as an Acura in the United States as well. With over 250 pounds of weight removed compared to the standard NSX, the Type R offered blistering track performance but a much more low-tech cabin due to its lack of air conditioning and less sound-deadening materials. The new NSX Type R will probably not be as barebones as the first generation though, with most of the performance additives coming from the improved hybrid technology sported by the model.

Updated 02/29/2016: Acura insiders recently revealed some potential plans to beef up the power output of the "regular" NSX. A Type R has yet to be confirmed officially, but a more powerful NSX may be in the works. Check out the details in the Drivetrain section below. (TheDetroitBureau)

Aston Martin DB11

Aston Martin has been relying on its VH (Vertical/Horizontal) platform since 2001, using it in all of its vehicles except the 2012 Aston Martin One-77 and the 2011 Toyota iQ-based 2011 Aston Martin Cygnet city car. That’s about to come to an end in 2016, when the Brits are set to introduce a new, lighter architecture that will include parts engineered by Mercedes’ high-performance AMG division. The new platform will also see Aston Martin vehicles receive the biturbo, 4.0-liter V-8 launched in the 2016 Mercedes-AMG GT, which will be supplied to Gaydon based on a partnership with Daimler. The first Aston Martin product to benefit from these new features will be the successor to the current Aston Martin DB9, which will arrive in showrooms for the 2017 model year.

Not much is known about the grand tourer set to replace the DB9, but Aston Martin has confirmed it will be sold as the DB11. In 2014, the brand trademarked the names DB10 through DB14 and used the DB10 moniker for the bespoke 2015 Aston Martin DB10 car built for the James Bond "Spectre" movie.

Updated 02/29/2016: The first images of the new DB11 leaked online with just a few hours before the car’s official debut at the 2016 Geneva Motor Show. (Carscoop)

Porsche 911 R

Despite being fitted with one of the best automatic transmissions ever built, the latest 911 GT3 has received a lot of heat from Porsche purists. Sure, the PDK shifts amazingly quick and it’s specifically tuned to deliver the fastest lap times on the race track, but most gearheads claim the 911 GT3 would be a lot more fun with three pedals and a stick. I couldn’t agree more.

Even though Porsche has made it clear that the manual gearbox will not return in the GT3, Stuttgart is reportedly working on a hardcore, naturally aspirated 911 with a manual transmission. According to Car and Driver, the new model will be called the 911 R and will use a powerplant closely related to the GT3’s.

The outlet also claims that the 911 R will break cover at the 2016 Geneva Motor Show in March and hit dealerships with a "steep price."

Not much else is known about the 911 R, but we’ve already came up with a rendering to go with the speculative review below. Stay tuned for more details. I’ll be back as soon as I find out more.

Updated 02/29/2016: The new Porsche 911 R is set to be making its world debut tomorrow at the 2016 Geneva Motor Show, but the first images already leaked online. As expected, the new 911 R is nothing else but a manual 911 GT3 with no rear wing.

Ford Torture Testing 2017 Super Duty in Mobile Lab: Video

The time between a vehicle’s debut and its arrival in showrooms hosts several important parts in its development. It’s during this time that bugs are worked out, nit-picky flaws are ironed out, and initial concerns are addressed. For the 2017 Ford Super Duty, that means a barrage of testing with Ford’s pair of mobile testing labs.

The labs, basically 18-wheeler trailers with built-in equipment and expandable walls, give engineers the ability to test the pre-production Super Duty trucks as they roll off the line. The two test rigs, called the TEFP and TIPSTER, short for Transportable Environmental four poster and Transportable Instrument panel sound testing Evaluation Rig, torture-test the trucks looking for squeaks and rattles.

The TEFP is a hellish place for the truck. Not only does it shake the truck like its traveling down a dirt road, it can recreate temperatures from -20 degrees to +120 degrees Fahrenheit. As for the TIPSTER, engineers use it to test full instrument panels for squeaks and rattles. After all, there are few things more annoying than a squeaking dashboard.

“Both the TEFP and TIPSTER allow us to test and identify the root causes of squeaks and rattles in a controlled environment, whether its in the hot sun of Arizona or the frigid temperatures in Canada,” says Dave Massengill, Ford’s PVT Squeak and Rattle Engineer at the Kentucky Truck Plant.

Ford is obviously putting a lot of effort into the upcoming Super Duty – something that’s not hard to believe since it, along with the F-150, make up Ford’s best selling products. The F-Series trucks have also dominated the full-size truck segment in terms of sales, going on nearly 40 years. Ford literally can’t afford to make mistakes with these trucks.

1970 Dodge Charger Tantrum Gets Jay Leno's Attention: Video

I’ve seen a lot of cars make appearances in Jay Leno’s Garage. I’ve seen a restored 1942 Dodge Power Wagon, a 1990 Lamborghini LM002, a 1974 Datson Sunny 1200 UTE, and a 2017 Audi R8 V10 Plus. As unique as all those cars are, I don’t think they’re as unique as the latest piece of machinery found in Jay Leno’s garage.

This is a 1970 Dodge Charger Tantrum and it’s mental beyond reproach. To be clear, there’s no such thing as a Charger Tantrum model. That “Tantrum” comes by way of SpeedKore Performance, a Wisconsin-based aftermarket company that built this 1970 Charger up to such insane levels it earned the nickname “Tantrum.”

It still looks like a 1970 Charger, but SpeedKore Performance designer Sean Smith admitted that there were a few functional changes made to make it look the way it does. For instance, there’s a generous amount of carbon fiber in the body of the car, including the hood, front bumper, and fenders. The interior also gets a generous amount of the lightweight material. Speaking of the cabin, a nice hat tip is in order for that pistol-grip shifter. That’s a swell way to keep the spirit of the Charger alive.

The powertrain is where the real magic lies. According to engine builder Dave Salvaggio, the Tantrum doesn’t have a Chrysler engine, which begs the question, “well, what does it have under that lightweight carbon fiber hood?”

If you want to know the answer, you’re going to have to watch the episode. Here’s a hint: ever heard of Mercury Marine?

Drive Goes To Willow Springs To Learn About The History Of The Track: Video

Willow Springs International Raceway is considered the most important race track in Southern California. It’s not the newest track, nor is it the biggest, but it does carry with it that old-school nostalgia that these modern tracks don’t have. In this episode of Drive, host Mike Spinelli is doing double duty as he takes the Dodge Challenger Hellcat out for some track day fun around the track. But while he tries to navigate the admittedly tricky Challenger Hellcat, he also tells the story of how Willow Springs came to be.

With that, he gets help from Christian Huth, the current manager of the race track and the grandson of the colorful character who founded the track. For those who don’t know, that man was Bill Huth, considered by many as a true motorsports visionary who successfully turned what was once just a dirt road into what many believe is one of the most famous tracks in the state, let alone the most important one from a historical perspective.

The elder Huth died in May 2015 from complications related to COPD (Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease). But as his grand son describes him, Bill Huth was a larger than life individual who took great pleasure in leaving a mark on anybody he came across with, even those he purposely tried to rip off. It’s a fascinating story of how the Willow Springs International Raceway came to be.

Oh, and just in case I forget, Spinelli’s still in the episode doing some mad runs on the Challenger, all while trying to properly describe the feeling of trying to coral that 707-horsepower muscle car in a track as tricky as Willow Springs. Easier said than done, right Mike?

Bugatti Veyron Grand Sport Vitesse Performs Some Mean Donuts: Video

Ever wonder what it must feel like doing donuts in the fastest production car in the world? To my knowledge, I think I can count in one hand the number of times I’ve seen an actual Bugatti Veyron performing serious burnouts. There’s a reason for that. See, a set of Bugatti Veyron tires cost a little under $20,000. Since the Veyron uses special Michelin PAX tires, they can only be removed from the wheels in France in a process that reportedly costs around $70,000 to $80,000. That’s roughly $90,000 to $100,000 worth of replacement parts.

So yeah, people who own Veyrons don’t generally use them for burnouts because replacing those cars could put a serious dent in their wallets. But what happens when the tires themselves are so worn out that they have to replaced?

Well, magic happens. The folks over at DutchBugs happened to have with them a Veyron 16.4 Grand Sport Vitesse World Record Car Edition. With those tires reportedly due for a change, they did what anybody would’ve done under the same situation. They took the special edition Veyron to an open area and proceeded to do some crazy burnouts that we’ll probably never get to see in our lifetimes again.

As for the young buck riding shotgun and bearing witness to arguably the most expensive donuts in history, that’s YouTube personality Gonth. For somebody who staked his claim to fame on YouTube, this is one heck of a video to have in his collection.

In-car Footage of Koenigsegg Agera R Speeding Down the Autobahn

One of the best things about visiting Germany, or maybe even living there, is the Autobahn, the national highway with certain stretches of roadway with no regulated speed limit. That’s quite the thing to experience. But, imagine hitting that long stretch of unregulated roadway in a vehicle like the Koenigsegg Agera R.

Well, since chances are you’ll never get that chance, someone was nice enough to take an onboard video while riding in an Agera R that appears to hit more than 220 mph. We never really get a shot of the speedo, so we can’t say for sure, but those other cars certainly appear to be sitting still as the Agera rockets past them. And, is it just me, or does that Agera sound like it is about two seconds away from breaking the sound barrier?

Anyway, it is a short video, but well worth your time to watch. I actually watched it twice. I recommend you use headphones, or watch it in a place where you can really crank up the volume – you most certainly want to hear the therapeutic noise produced by that 5.0-liter, 1,140-horsepower engine. By the way, this is probably one of those videos you’ll want to bookmark for later. Once we get our hands on all the new virtual reality headsets that are about to debut, this video might prove to be one hell of a VR experience.

2016 Geneva International Motor Show – Visitor's Guide

As the big debuts from Detroit and Chicago settle into the history books, all eyes turn to Switzerland for the 86th Geneva International Motor Show (GIMS). Without any major native automakers to hog the limelight, Geneva is considered “neutral ground” for the industry, and consequently, a fantastic opportunity to battle for the attention of a worldwide audience. One look at the growing list of highly impressive vehicles scheduled to drop cover this year confirms just how fierce the competition will be. Long story short – this is gonna be good.

Of course, that’s pretty much par for the course in Geneva. First held in 1905, GIMS is now widely recognized as one of the most important auto shows of the year, regularly attracting a huge diversity of vehicles, from economical commuters, to top-shelf exotics. While all the mainstream manufacturers are sure to make an appearance, smaller niche makes will be there as well, including Radical, Rimac Automobili, and Spyker, among others.

All told, 200 exhibitors from 30 different countries will set up shop, spread out over seven individual halls and more than a quarter million square feet of space. Over 100 premieres will take place over two press days, covered on-site by 10,000 auto journalists. Once the gates open to the public, upwards of 700,000 visitors will file through the halls.

We’ll be bringing you the latest and greatest right here, plus we’ll give you some tips if you plan on attending in person, so check back for updates as things get rolling!

Updated 02/26/2016: The 2016 Geneva International Motor Show kicks off next week, so to get you hyped, we’ve updated this guide with more of the debuts slated to drop cover. Check it out!

Mini Looking To Add Fifth Model

Mini is looking at a number of ways to grow its brand and among the options being considered is a premium compact sedan that would serve as the company’s fifth model. Peter Schwarzenbauer, the BMW board member in charge of Mini, told AutoNews about the company’s plans as it tries to expand the Mini lineup past its current four-car roster.

While there’s been no decision made on the matter, a more upscale compact sedan appears to be on the inside track to getting the green light. At the very least, it has a bigger chance of joining the three- and four-door Cooper Hardtop, the redesigned Clubman wagon, and the Countryman to make up Mini’s lineup moving forward. Another model, a production version of the Superleggera electric roadster concept, is also on the table but Schwarzenbauer admitted that it’s less likely to get the nod due to the possibility that it could be tagged as a low-volume, high-priced halo model. Such a model has a place in Mini’s lineup, but Schwarzenbauer explained that making a case for it from a business perspective has its own challenges.

On the other hand, a compact model would allow Mini to continue transitioning into the segment as it diversifies its model lineup with subcompact and compact vehicles. No timetable has been given on when the company is going to make a final decision, but expectations call for it to happen within the year.

In related news, Mini is also in the process of developing a plug-in hybrid model, which it plans to launch by 2018. An electric car is also on the table, although much of that car’s fate will depend on how far the company develops its own battery technology. There is a need for one considering that Mini touts itself as an urban brand and electric cars are well suited for urban cities. Just don’t expect to see one anytime soon.

BMW Has No Plans To Develop An M2 Convertible

If you were holding off on getting a BMW M2 until a Bimmer created a convertible variant, then you might as well just go grab yourself an M2 coupe or suck it up and buy a BMW M235i convertible. Why do you ask? Because in an interview with CarAdvice, Frank Isenberg – the chief engineer of the M2 – said that there won’t be an M2 convertible simply because there isn’t a need for one.

Like it or not, the BMW M2 was made for track day. Sure, it belongs on the street too, but the track is its natural home. As Isenberg put it, “We’ve got such a nice M235i convertible. And convertibles are not for racetracks, they’re for cruising,” he continued, “You can take that car on a racetrack as well, but you wouldn’t choose it for track day. That’s the reason we said no (to an M2 Convertible).”

Granted the M2 isn’t quite as hardcore as the 1M was, but that still doesn’t form the basis to have an M2 convertible. Isenberg claims that BMW needs to keep the M2 as purist as it did with the 1M, so don’t expect a change of heart anytime in the near future. At the end of the day, it really isn’t all that upsetting – the M235i is a nice drop top.

Nissan X-Trail Premium Concept

Production cars and futuristic concepts aren’t the only things showing up for the 2016 Geneva Motor Show. Nissan is bringing a pair of customized crossovers that the automaker hopes will bring attention to the brand. Both the Qashqai and X-Trail examples have been remained with interesting paintwork and design cues, along with interior upgrades that bring added flair to the designs. Here, we’ll be focusing on the X-Trail.

Nissan says the X-Trail is “targeted for the ‘Premium Adventurist,’ who will be thinking of mountain adventures in the Alps or the Pyrenees.” While it’s hard to imagine the X-Trail soft-roader talking more than a dirt path, Nissan’s Global Design Center in Japan sees this as “pushing boundaries and exploring creative solutions to fulfill the broad range of the needs of the aspirational customers in Europe.”

Marketing hype aside, the X-Trail Concept does look swanky, especially with the matte gold accents, carbon fiber accent on the hood, and 20-inch wheels. The most disappointing aspect is knowing this concept will likely never see production – unless Nissan gets rave remarks at Geneva. In that case, the X-Trail could receive a similar appearance package sold in limited numbers.

For U.S. buyers, hope is completely lost. That’s because the X-Trail isn’t offered Stateside, but rather the Rouge, which granted is based on the same platform and has uncanny similarities. Secondly, Nissan’s statements about the X-Trail Concept detail how this design study was conducted with European customers in mind – something the U.S. is somewhat lacking.

Regardless of all that, let’s take a look at Nissan’s latest concept.

Chevrolet Camaro SC610 By Callaway

Callaway has a strong fascination with modifying Chevy vehicles, be it the Corvette, Camaro, or even pickups and SUVs like the Silverado and Tahoe. Honda Civic Hatchback

We expect Honda to show up at the Geneva Auto Show with a new concept that previews the tenth-generation Civic hatchback, but if you’re curious as to what the hatch will look like, look no further. What we have here are photos of the tenth-gen hatch in production form, doing some on-road testing. The car in the pictures is covered in camouflage, but there is no padding, so we can actually make out some of its design cues.

We already know that the hatchback will launch in the first few months of 2017 in Europe, but it is a global car, so it will be exported from Europe to other markets, including the United States. This model retains about 80 percent of the DNA from the tenth-generation Civic Sedan, so we already know what to expect all the way back to rear doors.

These are the first shots of the hatchback variant of the tenth-gen that we’ve seen, aside from the 2017 Type R prototype that was caught racing around the Nürburgring a while back. So, will the new Civic Hatchback be able to take on the Volkswagen Golf and Opel Astra, or will it be a flop despite is sportier appearance up front? It is hard to say yet, but we’re here to take an in-depth look to see what it offers in terms of competition and style.

DS E-Tense Concept

Launched in 2009 as the premium division of Citroen, the DS brand became a standalone entity in 2014. The first separation took place in China, where the DS 5LS and DS 6WR were sold in distinct dealerships. With the facelift of the DS5 in 2015, the DS brand was also separated from Citroen in Europe. No longer sporting the Citroen badge, DS vehicles will soon become available in DS dealerships worldwide. Until then, DS is planning to launch more new models, one of which could be previewed by the E-Tense concept that was just confirmed for the 2016 Geneva Motor Show.

While previous DS-badged vehicles were based on Citroen models and platforms, the E-Tense was conceived from a clean sheet, employing a design that blends the cues of a grand tourer with those of a modern sports car. And, unlike other models from the current DS lineup, it uses an electric drivetrain that cranks out more than 400 horsepower.

DS didn’t say whether the E-Tense is slated to spawn a production version in the future, but it could be a signal that the French brand is looking to enter the sports car market as well. We should find out more about that at the Geneva Motor Show next week, so make sure you stay tuned for details. Meanwhile, let’s have a closer look at DS’ most intriguing vehicle to date.

Lamborghini Centenario LP 770-4

Sometime in the 1960s, a successful tractor builder in northern Italy bought a Ferrari 250 GT. Unfortunately, he didn’t think much of it. So, he brought his complaints directly to Enzo Ferrari, who responded by telling him he should stick to building tractors. After the rude dismissal, Ferruccio Lamborghini decided he could do better and started his own car company.

2016 would be Ferruccio’s 100th birthday, so to mark the milestone, Lamborghini will build a limited-production supercar as a tribute to the company’s founder. Thought to be called the Centenario LP 770-4, current rumors suggest that prospective buyers were shown a 3D hologram model of the new car during the 2015 Monterey Car Week.

We don’t know much about it at this point, but we do know that it will be fast, rare and very special. Here’s what we can tell you so far about the 760-horsepower tribute to Ferruccio Lamborghini.

Updated 02/26/2016: Lamborghini dropped a first teaser video for its upcoming Centanario supercar. As expected, the video reveals nothing about the new supercar, but its yet another confirmation we will get to see the official debut on March 1st, at the 2016 Geneva Motor Show. Iceland Confirmed As One Of The Filming Locations For Fast 8

The Fast & Furious film franchise is mainly known for its fast cars, beautiful women, and constant reminders on the importance of family. It’s also known for being one of the most outgoing franchises as far as film locations are concerned. It’s been to Tokyo, Rio de Janeiro, Abu Dhabi, London, Spain, and Mexico. That doesn’t even count the places it’s been to in the U.S., including Los Angeles and Miami, and the place it will reportedly go to for the 8th installment, New York City. But as we’ve seen in the previous films, the world of Fast & Furious isn’t just contained in one locale and it appears that Fast 8 won’t be any different.

There’s already been rumors that there will be scenes shot in Cuba, but according to Icelandic newspaper Visir, another exotic has been confirmed as a filming location for the movie. The place? Akranes, a small town in Iceland. Yes. Iceland.

Town mayor Regína Ásvaldsdóttir confirmed the report, saying that the film crew is expected to arrive in April. There are no details on who among the cast members will be in the shoot, but the scenes that will be shot in Akranes, specifically by the harbor and in the so-called Cement Fields, are expected to play prominent parts in the movie’s plot. Visir also added that the film crew are already planning on shooting a scene that would involve the largest explosion ever in the Nordic country.

Fast 8 will be directed by Straight Outta Compton director F. Gary Gray. Vin Diesel, Dwayne Johnson, and the rest of the cast are all expected to return. There are also rumors that Eva Mendes will a comeback after last appearing in 2 Fast 2 Furious and that Lucas Black will play a more prominent role in the movie. Oh, and Charlize Theron could be the main baddie in the movie. Take that for what it’s worth.

The movie will hit theaters on April 14, 2017.

Porsche 718 Boxster

The 1997-2004 Porsche Boxster was introduced in 1996 as an entry-level, mid-engined sports car. It was Porsche’s first road-going roadster since the 550 Spyder. Although it was received with mild criticism and was seen as a departure from Porsche tradition, the Boxster quickly grew on enthusiasts to become the company’s biggest volume seller until the Cayenne SUV was launched in 2003. Twenty years have passed since its debut and the roadster received the most important facelift of its life.

Much like the new 911 Carrera, the Boxster has ditched its naturally aspirated engine in favor of turbocharged units, as part of Porsche’s new strategy to reduce emissions and improve efficiency. More importantly, the said turbo mills use a different, flat-four configuration instead of the traditional flat-six, making the Boxster the first Porsche sports car to use a four-cylinder in several decades. The facelift also brings a name change to the lineup, with the Boxster to be sold as the 718 Boxster from now on.

Although new to the Boxster, the "718" denomination isn’t new to Porsche. The Germans used the same nameplate for a lightweight sports car built between 1957 and 1962. The fact that Porsche decided to revive the name with the Boxster is no coincidence, as the 718 also used four-cylinder engines. On top of that, the original 718 was quite a successful race car, winning the Targa Florio, European Hill Climb championship, and the 24 Hours of Le Mans (class win), so it’s natural for the automaker to want to exploit its motorsport heritage.

The 718 name will also be used for the Cayman once the coupe gets its update, but until that happens, let’s have a closer look at the revamped Boxster in the review below.

Updated 02/26/2016: Porsche dropped a new video in which it shows the new 718 Boxster in action at the company’s Experience Center in Silverstone. Hit "play" to watch it.
